Extremely Affectionate: labradoodles (much like their poodle and
labrador parents) are people-lovers through and through. They love attention and the people who give it to them.
MOSTLY Hypoallergenic: first-generation labradoodles are hybrids, and, as such, some have more labradorish characteristics
and others are more poodle-like. This is most apparent in the amount of shedding--most pups shed very little (much less than
a full-blooded labrador, to be sure) but there are those at both ends of the "vacuum cleaner" scale. A simple guideline:
the more fluffy/curly/poodlish the coat, the closer to zero-shedding the pup will be.
Very Active: like their sporting
labrador parent, labradoodles inherited a healthy love for running, jumping, retrieving and the like. Think about it as mixing
the play/retrieving instincts of the labrador with the speed and agility of a poodle. We've had families use them as everything
from hunting dogs to marathon training partners.
Highly Intelligent: anyone who has owned a poodle in the past
already knows how intelligent (and person-like) that breed can be. Labradors, too, are highly trainable. We've been impressed
with how quickly this breed takes to training of all types.
Personable: While poodles are generally great with
their owners, they can sometimes be a bit "moody" around adults or children they don't know. Labradors are typically
more well-rounded in their acceptance of humans, and labradoodles seem to mirror that general disposition.
